After Lindsay & Matt’s engagement session at their cafe (still can’t believe we nailed the Lady in the Tramp inspired photo), we knew we would have a great time working with them on their wedding day. If you’ve ever been to Lindsay & Matt’s cafe, you will know that a vintage style suits them to a T. On their wedding day Lindsay looked like she’d stepped out of a black and white Hollywood glam movie from the 1950s and Matt looked so handsome in his grey suit and bow tie. Hosting their wedding at the Stanley Park Pavilion was perfect for them with it’s gorgeous heritage look and feel. We felt extra lucky to also work with Lindsay & Matt’s wedding party who were so delightful. Lindsay’s bridesmaids each wore a different dress in pink that truly showed off their own styles and personalities with baby’s breath bouquets by the Flower Factory tying them all together. As they were getting ready at the charming Hotel Le Soleil, everyone cheered as each bridesmaid came out in her unique dress.
We met Matt and his groomsmen outside the hotel where the ladies were getting ready. Matt waited on the sidewalk for Lindsay to come out so they could see each other for the first time on their wedding day. Matt had the best expression we’ve seen for a first look when his jaw hit the ground seeing Lindsay. While the bridesmaids finished up getting ready we did some portraits of Matt and his groomsmen. The guys were hilarious standing up on a vent doing their Marilyn Monroe impressions with their jackets and ties blowing around.
And we had all of this fun before the ceremony even started! Brent Sheppard created a lovely short and sweet ceremony on the lawn in front of the Pavilion where there was a lot of laughter and some tears of joy.
Lindsay and Matt had a few little surprises that day which added to the fun. Lindsay surprised Matt by putting on a veil and the gorgeous bolero jacket for the ceremony. Matt surprised his Mom, whose birthday was the day before the wedding, by having everyone sing happy birthday to her while lighting the table numbers that were sparklers on little cakes that Lindsay had made. Lindsay’s brother made a slideshow for Lindsay & Matt that was more like a little art film and was the best slideshow we’ve seen at a wedding.
It really was an unforgettable day for a wonderful couple.
Lindsay & Matt, thank you very much for sharing your wedding day with us. We are so very happy for you two. Congratulations!
