Before the craziness of our summer, I took a fantastic course “Out of the Box” with my favourite teacher and artist, Jeanne Krabbendam at the Coal Harbour Community Centre. The course was really, really fun, like all of Jeanne’s classes. If you’ve been thinking of dabbling into painting but were not sure what to take, sign up for one of Jeanne’s classes. You won’t be disappointed. Not only is she a treat to be around, she is an excellent teacher. I’m always amazed at how easily she is able to guide her students through the creative process. Jeanne teaches at Emily Carr as well as at Coal Harbour. She also does small and private classes in her studio on Granville Island. The classes at Coal Harbour, though, are a deal, especially since all the supplies are included. Jump in and do it!
Here are a few pictures of the piece that I made. It is a a celebration of my travels and what they have meant to me. I used some of my photographs, stamps from my passports, pages from my travel journals and tickets I collected along the way to create the piece. Thanks, Jeanne, for being such an inspiration to me.
