O Solo Mio

Oh Italia, how we love you so! We can’t tell you what a lovely time we had visiting northern Italy for April and Dennis’ wedding. It was so lovely for us to see a “real” Italy, staying in a small town and spending lots of time with the locals. Best of all, it was great to spend time with my family something we don’t do often enough. Here are a few pics from our time there.

April and Dennis shopping for grappa which they gave to the Canadian wedding guests.

Homemade prosciutto = heaven for Roger

On our first night in Italy we went to Dennis’ cousins’ son’s first birthday. It was a wonderful feast (see the prosciutto above) and a great way for us to meet some of Dennis’ family.

It’s not a birthday party unless you have a cotton candy maker. Wouldn’t you agree?

As the night grew on they all started to sing Italian folk songs which was so beautiful it gave me goosebumps.

Roger, being the shy and reserved guy that he is, got up and started singing O Solo Mio at the top of his lungs. Everyone joined in with him. It was absolutely hilarious. Everyone was talking about for days after wards. The only pic I managed to snap was the one below. Too bad I was laughing to hard that I couldn’t hold the camera straight enough to get a sharp picture.

Here is Dennis’ family’s farm house. A wonderful spot surrounded by grape vines and corn fields.
